How to Safely Clean and Disinfect Roland and BOSS Instruments

There are many cleaning and disinfectant products on the market. Some of these can cause damage to the
appearance and function of your Roland or BOSS instrument. With this in mind please use this guide to safely clean your instrument.

Important Precautions
• Always apply the cleaner or disinfectant to a soft clean cloth and NEVER apply directly onto the instrument. Microfibre cloths are recommended as they won’t harm the finished surface of your instrument.
• Use different cloths for cleaning vs. disinfecting to avoid mixing chemicals.
• Do NOT use rubbing alcohol to clean your Roland or BOSS gear because it contains other ingredients that may leave a residue.

Roland V-Drum Cymbals, rubber pads, rims or playing surfaces and drum skins
• Always use warm soapy water only! Wipe down the surface and dry it afterwards to avoid leaving a soapy residue.
   • Dawn Dish Detergent™ is safe for use on the rubber surfaces.
• Using an alcohol-based disinfectant or cleaner will dry out the rubber and cause cracking.

Roland Piano Cabinet Surfaces
• Use warm soapy water only! Wipe down the surface and dry it afterwards to avoid leaving a soapy residue.
   • Dawn Dish Detergent™ is gentle and does not damage the finish.
• Do NOT use isopropanol as it can damage the cabinet finish.
• Roland Cleaning and Polishing Kits (PCK-HG & PCK-SS) can be used to clean and polish your
piano finish. However, these products do not disinfect.

Roland Piano and Synth keys
• Care must be taken with Roland ivory feel keyboard actions. It is possible to damage the ivory feel sur face if you rub the keys too vigorously while cleaning them.
• Use 70% Isopropanol (Isopropyl Alcohol) applied to a soft cloth to clean and disinfect the keys.
• The Roland Cleaning Kits (PCK-HG & PCK-SS) and Windex can also be used to clean your keys, but they don’t disinfect.

Amp cabinets and personal drum monitors
• Use 70% Isopropanol (Isopropyl Alcohol) and a soft cloth to clean and disinfect the cabinet surfaces,
control panels, buttons and knobs.
• Windex can be safely used to clean the cabinets, panels, buttons and knobs but it doesn’t disinfect.

Hard plastic or metal control panels, buttons and knobs on Roland and BOSS gear.
• Use 70% Isopropanol (Isopropyl Alcohol) and a soft cloth to clean and disinfect the control panels,
buttons and knobs.
• Touch Screens: 70% Isopropanol on a micro-fiber cloth can be used to disinfect your Roland or BOSS touch screen.
• Touch screens must be cleaned carefully to avoid scratching or damaging them.
• Isopropanol CAN remove paint/silk screening/lettering if you rub too vigorously.
• Take care with the rubber knobs or pads, the Isopropanol can dry out the rubber.
• Windex can be safely used to clean the cabinets, panels, buttons and knobs but it doesn’t disinfect.
